The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Sangwon Jung, Director) present a special online project, 'Oh! Pansori' series from April 6 through June 29 on the KCCLA YouTube channel.
Pansori is a genre of musical storytelling performed by a vocalist and a drummer and Chunhyangga is one of five surviving Pansori tales. It is a love story between Sung Chunhyang and Yi Mongryong, and despite differences in social class, the two fell in love. Chunhyangga finishes with a happy ending. It is also a Korean folk tale.
Where do we breathe when we sing Pansori? On the fourth 'Chunhyangga' episode, students (Chris, Elodie and Dong Han) learned old words from 'Saranga' lyrics, and learn how to breathe during singing.)
'Oh! Pansori' series is a new series made by Namwon National Gugak Center to introduce Korean vocal genres 'Pansori.' Subscribe for more episodes to be brought to you every other week.
