Description : ‘Rising K classic’ is an event where K-classic vocalists and instrumentalists, who are actively performing in Southern California, come together and showcase their talents on one stage.
The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (Director Jung Sang-won) announced that it will hold the "Rising K-Classic" concert on September 26 at 7 p.m. at Ari Hall on the 3rd floor of the Cultural Center.
This event will feature a lineup of young, talented Korean vocalists and classical musicians active in Southern California, who will fill the autumn night in LA with high-level classical music and beautiful melodies.
An Adjunct Professor Jin-young Jang of Antelope Valley University, who leads a Korean classical ensemble and is active as a vocalist and conductor, will serve as the artistic director for the event. Many Korean artists who are actively performing in Southern California and gaining recognition in the local classical music scene will participate.
Soprano Juhye Kim, mezzo-soprano Wooyoung Kim, tenor Kyuyoung Lee, baritone Christopher Bang, violinists Jeongah Kim and Hee Sun Kang, violist Ji In Han, cellist Wonsun Keem, and pianists Heejung Ju and So-Mang Jeagal have all graduated from prestigious institutions such as USC, Seoul National University, New England Conservatory, Korea National University of Arts, Berlin University, Yale University, and Boston University. They are currently active as vocalists, performers, and professors at institutions such as the LA Master Chorale, Colburn School, and CSU.
The concert will feature Schubert’s "Die Forelle" performed as a string quartet, as well as various European art songs for the audience to enjoy. Additionally, there will be a variety of duets, piano solos, and instrumental quintet performances selected from classical pieces and musicals.
Notably, the concert will also introduce several pieces from the newly emerging "art-pop" genre in Korean classical music. Art-pop songs, which are considered a new genre of art songs, blend the artistic nature of traditional classical songs with modern sensibilities and popular appeal.
