A Year Filled with Korean Art Events and Activities
|
We start the year with great news:
For the first time ever, the biggest English-language publisher in the world, McGraw-Hill will include chapters on Korean art in their fine art textbooks. I wrote the chapters for McGraw-Hill, and since this will be required reading for thousands of students across America, I am excited to think of how much this will increase the popularity of Korean art.
In addition to our publishing activities, we have an exciting lineup of free monthly events for you in 2012:
We'll be going on our first tours of LA and DC for very special Korean Art Society events. In April and October, the ever-generous Brooklyn Museum will allow us into their storage area for private viewings focused on their important collection of Korean paintings. In the fall, the private Burke Collection will kindly open their doors to us for a viewing of their Korean masterpieces. We'll return to the Philadelphia Museum in February for a special exhibition. In January, we'll be at the Newark Museum to view their Korean collection. And of course, we will have our regularly scheduled events at the Lee Young Hee Museum of Korean Culture in New York's Korea Town. An exact schedule of our events is kept up-to-date on the events page of our website, and you will receive email announcements with details of each event. We will continue to offer free membership in the Korean Art Society, including a free subscription to the Korean Art Society Journal, and our events will always be entirely free of charge. Thank you for joining us in our mission to promote appreciation of Korean art and culture.
