Revealing secret longings through utterly human stories, choreographer Young Soon Kim and WHITE WAVE Dance present Eternal NOW. Kim, whose work has been hailed for its exhilarating, visually stunning, and emotionally rich phrases and textures, presents this expression of movement that perpetually affirms the now, in space and time, as it reveals the inner landscape of human emotion. The result is a compelling, deeply sensual work that exemplifies the remarkable versatility of its performers and the choreographic virtuosity of its maker. “Eternal NOW” is a Multi-Media Dance/Theater piece, the fourth and final chapter of a series Kim has worked on since 2010, and an ambitious collaboration with composer, Marco Cappelli, who will perform an original score live, as dancers interact with scenes of lusciously composed images and edited footage by video artist, Kate Freer, playing on widescreen monitors.
Formed in 1988, WHITE WAVE Young Soon Kim Dance Company has traversed the globe performing her repertory of original works in Taiwan, China, and Hong Kong, as well as a 60-day tour in Korea. Kim’s 34-year career as a choreographer began as a performer appearing at major festivals and collaborating with musicians like Dave Brubeck. Kim has also choreographed for City Contemporary Dance Company (Hong Kong), Seoul Contemporary Dance Company (Korea), and the St. Gallen Dance Loft (Switzerland), among others. The company’s performances garnered press coverage on CNN, PBS NYC Arts, Channel 7 Eyewitness News, The New York Times, Wall Street Journal.
